Addtional questions: Why were slaves needed in the south?  What work did they do?  What was the difference between the way slaves were treated in the south, as compared with in the North? 

Tell about the slave rebellions.  Why were the southern farmers afraid of this? 

Homework: 

You are a newspaper reporter in South Carolina.  Write an article about your colony's need for slaves.
