The Lord of the Rings is a fantasy fantastasical masterpiece that bowled over the Science and Fantasy world way back in 1954 or so, and it still is a favorite now in 2019.
I know that eventhough this is a very long book, you will be tempted to skip over the prologue, I suggest that you study it as a history book. It sets the stage for the action that will start when the book opens in Chapter 1.

What type of houses do they like to build?
What is their favorite type of entertainment?
Which type of Hobbit has a bit of a beard?
What do they feel about the Sea?
Do Hobbits like to travel?
What do they feel about the Elves? Dwarves?
What are the differences between the three breeds of Hobbits?
What happened in Year 1 of the Shire reckoning?
Do Hobbits like to go to war?
Can they shoot with a bow?
Homework:
Draw a Hobbit house.
