Diary of a Wimpy Kid Second half of page 10, Lesson Plan

 Today is Thursday in Greg's journal and now he is telling us about his summer.  I hope that your summer was better than his!!  Let's read and find out!

September 11, 2001, Lesson Plan

 This was a day that I will never forget. It was in the afternoon in Jerusalem, and I got a call from my father in Washington DC.  It was not our ususal telephone time, and he told me to make sure that I was sitting down. He then told me what happened. A complete shock.

 Greg is in middle school, and it not the heaven he thought it would be when he was in Elementary School.

End of the Cold War, Lesson Plan

The Cold War affected the United States and the whole world.  Sometimes it heated up and there were proxy wars, like in Korea, Vietnam and the Middle East. It got to a point that Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev, each in his own country to try something different.

Julius Ceasar Crosses the Rubicon, Lesson Plan

 This event is a turning point in Roman history. When Ceasar crossed the Rubicon, he could have been starting a civil war. . .

Plants, seeds, and how they grow, Lesson Plan

 Plants, seeds, and how they grow. 

First we will study in Wonders Grade 1 Unit 3 Reading and Writing Workshop pages 46-49

Now we can go to this cute video: 



Questions

What are seeds? 
What are the parts of a plant? 
What function does the flower do? 
What does the stem do?
What do the leaves provide for the plant? 
How do the roots help the plant, you can name two ways!

Which plants do you see in your neighborhood? 
Which plants do you like to eat for food? 
What part of the plant do you eat? 
Give examples of different plants and the parts that you use everyday!

Homework: 

Write about a specific plant and its parts.  
Draw a picture of the parts of a plant. 

Extra credit: Plant a seed and watch it for a month, draw a picture of the changes that the plant goes through.  Write the dates on each picture.

The Death of John F. Kennedy, Lesson Plan

  This is a subject that still holds our attention 58 years later. Who really killed JFK?  If he would have been re-elected would history still be the same?  Vietnam war?  Watergate?  We will never know.

The Administration of Jimmy Carter

 Jimmy Carter's presidential adminstration started with the defeat of Gerald Ford.  He was also trying to fix the problems that Ford couldn't. 

He helped to ease the energy crisis with OPEC, and helped to organized the "Peace between Israel and Egypt .
