Buffalo Before Breakfast - Magic Tree House Chapter 2

Buffalo Before Breakfast

Magic Tree House Chapter 2

The once great herds of Buffalo are gone, leaving a remnant of what must have been a great sight!  We had a buffalo in the Jerusalem Zoo for a while, but I have not seen him lately.
But Jack and Annie get to see the great herd while they visit the prairie.

Read pages 10-14 and then discuss these questions with your Teacher.

Questions
What clothes are Jack and Annie wearing?
How does Jack feel?
What does the world outside the Tree House window look like?
What time is it now?
What do they need to finish the mission?
How will they get it?
What do they learn from their research book?
What notes does Jack write?
Why does Jack sneeze?
Where do they go?
How do they know in what direction to go?
What does Teddy do?

Now, don't peek at Chapter 3 yet!!

Homework: Draw a picture of what Jack and Annie see out the Tree House window.  Label all the parts of the picture.

Buffalo Before Breakfast - Magic Tree House  - Chapter 1

The prologue is for all those of you who haven't had the chance to read all the other books up to number 17, and to get you up to speed with the general feeling of the series, but the real story starts in Chapter 1

Read pages 1-9 and answer these questions.

How old are Jack and Annie?
How does this affect the story?
Who do they have to free from a spell?
What animal is he? How does he help Jack and Annie?  If you have read Book 17, then briefly summarize the book.
Which mission number are Annie and Jack going on today?
How do they know it is time to go back to the Tree House?
How does Jack feel about Grandmother?
How long will they be gone?
What time of day is it now?
What is the weather like?
Can you recite the note that Morgan left?
What does it mean?  What did they already find during the last mission?
What is the name of the book they are going to research now?
What do you know about the American Midwest?

Homework:
Jack has to write a report about the Praire.  Pick an animal that lives on the Prairie and write about its habitat, food and way of living.
