Emma: Mom, we have been walking all day!

Mom: Emma, not really all day, but you are right, my feet are hurting.

Emma: We went to that museum, the Empire State building, and even to the Statue of Liberty!

Eli:  Mom, can we find a kosher restaurant?

Mom: I'm sure we can. We are in New York City!

Abba:  I looked up a few when were back in Jerusalem, ah,  here is my list. I printed it!

Mom: Which restaurant is nearest?

Abba: Here's one, oh, it is open on Saturdays, we shouldn't go there, I doubt it is Kosher!

Eli: Yeah, in Jerusalem a restaurant that is open on Shabbat wouldn't get a Kosher certificate, even if they used only Kosher foods!  It's the principle of being Kosher!

Emma: What about that delicatessen over there?  It looks good!

Eli: Oh, is there a Hecher in the window?

Emma: Eli, come with me and we'll go check.

Mom: If we can't find  a kosher restaurant, we can go to a supermarket and buy fruits and vegetables and I will cook us a nice vegetarian dinner at the bed and breakfast apartment.

Abba: But I wanted to take everyone out for a nice meal.  Here Emma comes now!

Emma: I looked and went inside, and they said that they are Kosher style, They don't have the certificated yet, they applied and it will take time until they get it.

Eli:  So we need to keep looking.

Mom: Look! The Best Falafel in New York City!  And it's Kosher! https://moshesfalafel.net/

Emma: That is just like the falafel that we can get in Jerusalem!

Abba: I was hoping for something a bit more fancy, but the price is right.  Let's go there!

Mom: Your treat Abba!  Come on, let's go eat felafel!

Questions:
Where is the family?
What have they been doing all day?
Where did they go?
What do they want to find?
What restaurant did they find first?
What did they find second?
What did Mom offer to do?
What did Abba really want to find?
Why did they finally go and get falafel?

Mom needs to take Emma to the doctor

Emma: Mom, I can't go to school today, I have a sore throat.

Mom: Here, have some tea, this usually helps you.  There, now how do you feel?

Emma: Thanks for the tea, but my throat still hurts.  It even hurts to swallow!

Mom: Let me touch your forehead, wow, this feels like you have a temperature.  I'm getting the therometer,

Emma: I need to lie down.  Can I go on the couch?

Mom: Sure, here put this under your tongue.

Emma: hmmmmm

Mom: We have to wait a few minutes.

Mom: Now I can check your temperature.  Yes, you are sick, your temperature is 39 degrees Celciius, let's go to the emergency clinic.  I'm checking on the app.

Ahh, here is the nearest one, it is only one bus ride away,
Emma, do you feel well enough to take the bus for about 15 minutes?

Emma: Well, ok, I can walk,

Mom: I understand, you don't want to talk. Do we still have some masks?  I think it is a good idea to wear one when we are waiting at the clinic. There might be other people who might be sick there.

Emma: Yeah.

Mom: Now take your coat, and scarf, it is a bit coldish outside.

E|mma: hmmm

They go to the clinic:
Mom: I have to take a number.  Oh, we are number A110, we don't have long to wait.

Emma: hmm

Mom: It is now our turn. follow me.

Doctor: Please give me your medical card.   Thank you.  What is the problem?

Mom: My daughter Emma, has a very sore throat and a temperature of 39 degrees Celcius.

Doctor: I see, Emma, please sit here next to the desk.  Open your mouth, Yes, it is very red.
I need to take your temperature again,

Emma: Hmmm

Mom: It is serious?

Doctor: I don't think so, I will take a throat culture, Emma, let me check the therometer, ahh, yes, 39.2 degrees.  Now, I'm taking a throat culture,   I am going to give you  an antibiotic you have to take it three times a day with a full glass of water.

Mom: Emma is allergic to penicillin. She broke out in hives last year when she took it for laryngitis.

Doctor: In that case she will need a different antibioitic.  Hmm,Antibotics to use instead of penicillin Erythromycin looks like it will take care of that throat infection.

Mom: Can she go to school?

Doctor, No, she needs to stay home for three days, I'm writing a sick slip that you can send to the schoool by email.  You can buy the antibiotic at any pharmacy.  Drink lots of hot tea, and soup.
Get plenty of rest.

Mom: Thank you doctor.

Questions:

How does Emma feel in the morning?

What does Mom first give her?

Does this remedy help?

What does Mom give next?

What makes her decide to take Emma to the doctor?

What does she suggest that Emma take with her?

What does the doctor do?

What will Emma have to do at home to get better?

Emma: Let's go pay, this is going to be heavy to take home.

Mom: I don't think so, most of it will go in the grocery cart.
