Diary of a Wimpy Kid - Page 2- Lesson Plan

Greg is in his first day of Middle School, or Junior High for us people from California.

Why did he agree to keep a journal? Read page 2 and do these exercises:

Vocabulary:

I figure - I think
later on - in the future
gonna - slang for going to
childhood - when a person was a child
handsome -  a nice looking boy or man
journal - writing about your life everyday or so
shoo - go away
Like I said, - repeating what was mentioned before
morons - stupid people

Spelling practice:
Word bank:   figure, later, handsome , journal, morons

Put in the first letter and the last letter

_ oron_    _ate_     _igur_    _andsom_

Put in the right phrase in the sentence:

Bank: I figure later ,  I'm stuck, I agreed to, I'll have better things,

______________ to do than answer people's stupid questions all day long.

_____________ take out the garbage.

___________________in middle school with a bunch of morons.

____________ I will be rich and famous!

Make your own sentences, using the vocabulary words.

Homework:
Write a journal entry for your second day of the school year.

Example:
Dear Diary,
Yeah, I know that sounds stupid, Dear Diary, but who can I write to? My mom?  Don't be stupid, I would never do that!!  So, today was the second day of school, and well, since we are back from quarentine, it is kinda strange because we have to wear masks, and well, it hurts behind my ears after wearing it all day. The teachers wear them too.  But since I'm a bit deaf, and I lip read, so I don't know what most people are saying. The mask covers the mouth, so I'm at a disadvantage. By the way, don't tell people that I am a bit deaf! It's a secret!!  The only class that it doesn't bother me is in gym. So I LOVE gym.  That's what I liked about today. We had gym, I love climbing the rope!
Bye for now!
