The Constitution
At the time in the 1770's people were rethinking about the different forms of government. The first experiment of a loose confederation of independent states had failed. So James Madison took it into his hands to persuade the delegation in Philadelphia in 1787 to try again.
Many different plans were presented but the Constitution, although not perfect, was the best document for government that has stood the test of time.
