Ten Week Program to Improve Spoken English


 If you want to improve your Spoken English, it is best to study with an experienced Conversational English Teacher.  

Here is a sample 10 week workplan that you can follow.  Feel free to make any changes that you need as each person is at a different level and has different interests. 


Week 1

Introductions: 

How to introduce yourself to another person. 

Greetings, and ice breakers

Conversation starters

Do a self inventory about your skills in English. 

How comfortable do you feel about speaking, listening and understanding English? 

 Which skill is most difficult?  Different accents in English? 


Week 2

Small talk.  What topics are good to talk about to a person who you just met.  At this stage, don't get too personal, and keep the conversation to general interest topics. 

Many people like to talk about the weather, sports, traffic.  Now you can talk about the COVID, but not too much. 


Week 3

Job related subjects

Talk about different aspects of your job, or if you are looking for a job. 

What is your dream career?  

What does a day at the job look like to you? 


 

Week 4 

How to talk about current events.  


Here is a sample topic with some questions:

Questions: 

What type of jobs will this program help create? 

How many people will benefit from this program? 

Would this be beneficial to your industry?  

How would you envision the training? 


 

Be positive and here you can show some of your creativity.

Which subjects are better for which type of people? 



Week   5

 Business topics

Advertising, sales, 

How to do Business to Business Sales 

What is different with Business to Customer sales? 



Week 6

Negotiations 

How to negotiate for a raise, or negotiate in a business setting.

Win Win situation. What to do if can't get to a Win Win? 

Best Negotiated Compromise? 



Week 7

How to do a business presentation. 

What do say when you are presenting a Power Point Presention. 

Make a presentation more exciting. Use upbeat words and phrases.


Week 8

How to talk about your boss. 

Be positive even if you had a bad experience with a boss in the past. 

Who was your best boss, why? 

Who was your worst boss, why? 




Week 9 

Speak about your Business Competition

Also here be positive, and if you have something negative to say, be careful. 

How can your business overcome the competition, what can your business do better? 



Week 10

Sum it up. 

Do another self inventory about your English skills, 

Speaking, Listening, Understanding. 

Which skill did you improve the most? Why? 

What do you still need to work on in the future?
