The Ottoman Empire and the West! The Story of the World, Book 3, Chapter 18

Many people in Europe looked to the East and turned away, but the Ottoman Empire wanted to take over Europe, and they marched West twice.  

Read pages 152-154 then discuss the questions with your teacher

Which countries did the Ottoman Empire have before this time? 
Which country did they want now? 
How was their army described by a writer at the time? 
How did they set up their camp? 
What strategy did they use to conquer the city? 
What did the inhabitants do? 
What tasty food was invented?
Who came to the rescue? 
How did they win the war? 

How long did peace last? 
What was the new sultan's name? 
What flower did he love the most? 
Who were the  Janissaries and what was their function
What did they do when they revolted?
Which inventions came to the Ottoman Empire. 
Which other inventions would have been useful? 


Homework: 
You are writing a report for the French  King about the Tulip sultan's latest party.  Describe what you see and if you liked the party or not. Tell the king if he should go to the next one or not.
