Harry Truman and the Fair Deal Lesson Plan

Harry S Truman was a visionary whose work in the field of social welfare and economic growth was not realized at the time. 

We are going to study the Fair Deal, an update to the New Deal of President Franklin Rooseveldt.

Discuss: 

What were the main problems of the economy at this time? 

Which groups of people needed the most help? 

What were the main ideas of Truman's Fair Deal? 


What was the minimum wage at this time in the United States? 

Why  didn't Congress want to pass these laws? 

Homework: 

You are a member of Congress and don't like the Fair Deal. 
Write a speech to give in the House of Representatives against the Fair Deal.
